Our history
Club Baloncesto Marbella is the oldest basketball club in the Province of Málaga.
With over 40 years of history, the club has achieved great sporting success, both with our youth teams and our Senior team, the club’s most representative squad. For many years, our Senior team was a prominent figure in the professional basketball scene, competing in the second division of National Basketball with serious chances of promotion.
Throughout the years, many renowned players have passed through our club, including Olympic Champion Valdemaras Homicius. We have also nurtured numerous players who now compete in the ACB League, such as Alfonso Sánchez (XACOBEO-BLUSENS), with some even representing the Spanish National Team, like Carlos Cabezas (UNICAJA, BIZKAIA, CAI, FUENLABRADA). Other notable players in the national basketball scene include Paco Rueda Naranjo, a youth and junior international for the Spanish National Team and ACB player with Granada; Marta Pérez, also an international player and U-16 European Champion; and Marta García, who plays in the F1 League and has represented Spain in various youth categories.
Our city has enjoyed and celebrated top-level basketball for many years, with a professional team competing in the former Liga EBA, now LEB ORO, the second tier of National Basketball. A large portion of these teams have been made up of players from our youth academy, which remains the backbone of our club.
Club Baloncesto Marbella engages hundreds of children daily through its youth teams and sports schools. These boys and girls aspire to join the club’s First Team in the near future. For this to happen, the club must continue to grow, improve, and maintain its ambition to compete at the highest levels, in line with the city it represents.
